Morning peachies, it’s a rainy day where I currently live and I’m writing a quick post before I head off to uni for the day. Also hoping the post man comes before I have to leave as goodies are arriving >:).
So today I will be reviewing D’Fluff shaving cream by Lush. This is currently a permanent product in stores and retails for RRP £5.75 for the 70g pot and RRP £9.95 for the 150g pot.
Personally I don’t normally use shaving cream, I spend a lot of money on wax which never works and a RIDICULOUS amount on a decent razor and blades, so normally I ditch the shaving cream. Not only that but in the past when I have just bought Gillette shaving cream from boots it hasn’t made any difference to the shave than just lathering my shower gel with a soap (which is what I normally do).
I am currently using the Gillette Swirl which has a ball type thing on it so that it can fit across bumps and stuff easier. How dandy. This is a fairly decent razor anyway so I thought it was doing the best job a razor can do but apparently not.
Firstly D’fluff smells amazing and it’s pink, it just looks so lovely in the pot and smells so nice you want to eat it. Don’t eat it. But anyway, as with Lush stuff it is all natural so it doesn’t smell like other brands ‘strawberry’ products, it is a really subtle smell but it stays on the skin and is not overpowering. Something I love about all lush products. They genuinely make you smell amazing whereas other products I find are heavily scented but the scent disappears really quickly.
The texture is like a mousse, some people use D’fluff on dry skin and get a really close shave however I always find this clogs up my razor really bad. I used d’fluff on slightly damp skin after I got out of the bath and before I showered and rinsed my hair out. I always like to shave at this point as my skin just responds a lot better to shaving, it is cleaner and doesn’t dry my skin out as much.
I found you do need to use quite a bit of this product, I would say you could get 3-4 uses out of the smaller pot which is a little bit annoying for me as I do like to shave everyday, my end shave was a lot smoother than normal however so I might find that I could leave it to every other day which would cut down on blade cost and probably balance out the additional buying of d’fluff.
When I lathered it on my skin it melts down from being a fluff as much but just a thick coating on top of your skin. This stuff plays hell with your razor so make sure you rinse it properly after every stroke. Thats the only way to stop it really clogging up your blade, and doing this always gives a better shave anyway.
I really have been converted to shaving cream, normally, even with a brand new blade my legs aren’t completely smooth, they still feel bumpy even after I exfoliate. I would definitely recommend this product, especially if you are already using another shaving cream as this is far superior to any that I have previously tried.
